The Great Gatsby is zonder twijfel een kaskraker. Niet dat ik hem al heb gezien - shame on me - maar de commentaren die ik tot nog toe heb gelezen zijn ongewoon positief. De 'auteurs spelen hun rollen uitstekend' en de film 'leunt sterk op zijn extravagante en theatrale stijl'; zeker de moeite dus. Jammer genoeg schijnen mensen wel eens te vergeten dat vele sterke films gebaseerd zijn op verhalen van grote namen in de literatuur en wordt zo het boek vaak op de achtergrond geplaatst. Ik moet echter mijn imago als linguist [slash] literatuurwetenschapper hoog houden en heb dus beslist eerst de novelle van Fitzgerald te lezen vooraleer mij onder te dompelen in de glamour van de Hollywood film. Toch kon ik me niet houden de kostuums van de films al eens te bekijken. Wo-ow. Glamour and glitter all the way. Een hoop inspiratie voor een GG moodboard als je't mij vraagt!
The Great Gatsby is without a doubt a real blockbuster. Not that I've already seen it - shame on me - but the comments I've have been reading up on are extremely positive. The 'authors plays their roles perfectly' and the movie 'is supported by its extravagant and theatrical style'; so, a real recommendation. Unfortunately some people seem to forget that a lot of strong movies are based on stories of great names in literature and books are being pushed into the background. However, I myself have to keep my imago as a linguist [slash] literature scientist high and decided to read first of all the novel by Fitzgerald before I plunge into the glamour of the Hollywood movie. Still, I could not resist looking up some pictures from the movie, the costumes wo-ow! Glamour and Glitter all the way! A bunch of inspiration for a GG moodboard if you ask me!
